Manuela Riedo Foundation Press photo Shoot

22nd June 2015

I did an unusual shoot recently in Blackrock Salthill with my good buddy Shane Lennon and the Manuela Riedo Foundation.
The foundation is planning to bring 500 walkers/joggers/runners to the majestic Dingle Peninsula in Co Kerry the first weekend in September (September 5th to be exact).
I've wrote about the Manuela Riedo Foundation on a few occasions previously, so rather than repeating myself, it's suffice to say that it's an organization that I'm only to happy to help out whenever the opportunity arises.
Previously, I've tried my hand at the Connemarathon (half marathon) for the past few years, and although it was a tough event for someone with all my shapes, it was very rewarding to be part of a group of people that are helping turn something so horrific into something so positive, and indeed create a legacy to beautiful Manuela.
So my first weekend off this year (since early April) will be the first weekend in September, when I'll be taking part in the Dingle Half Marathon event.
As mentioned, for someone my size, it's not easy to put on the shorts and show of my Michelin Man physique, and the initial first couple of runs are always the hardest. What has helped me no end however was once again being involved in the PR shoot two weeks ago in Blackrock. Fair play to the substantial amount of runners that turned up for the photo shoot and assisted getting the word out there about the foundation and the Dingle run.
I must admit that as Sundays are my only off days, I wasn't full of enthusiasm going into Galway to so some work, but drove home a couple of hours later feeling invigorated and it has set me up nicely for my training and what's required for September. As well as the amount of people that showed up for the shoot, it was rewarding to see so how positively the Galway locals reacted to the green colors of the Manuela Riuedo taking over Blackrock....words of encouragement or a simple pat on the back to say "well done in what your doing"....this in particular is what has helped me get focused.

If any of my friends out there are trying to do something healthy for this summer, please consider the Dingle Half Marathon in aid of the Manuela Riedo Foundation....I guarantee you it'll be an experience that you'll cherish....and indeed will probably want to repeat!
You don't have to be a mega fit person for this event....just look at me! But if you feel that running isn't your thing, there will be a substantial number of walkers too. More information can be found by clicking on the following link and hopefully I'll see some of you there!
