Manuela Riedo Ball October 11th 2014

17th October 2014
I set up a studio last Saturday in the Meyrick Hotel for the inaugural Manuela Riedo Foundation Ball.
There are a couple of events that I do each year for charitable causes....and this one in particular is something that I feel strongly about.
Being the parent of three children, I find Manuela's story so tragic, in particular when poor Manuela was the only child of Arlette and Hans Peter.
Seven years after her passing, I believe her name has taken on a much more positive story however....the substantial number of people that attended the Ball in her name last week is one example of that.....factor in the couple of hundred people that ran the Connemarathon last April with Manuela's name on their shirts (and those that will be doing it in Dingle neat year) among the several other events that take place through out the year in the name of Manuela is heartening.
Thank you to everyone that came and had their portrait taken last weekend (in aid of the Manuela Foundation), your support is greatly appreciated!
Some images of the night are posted below and anyone that purchased an image and would like a copy for the internet, please contact me.

Arlette and Hans Pieter Riedo. How these people ever get out of bed in the morning after what they've been through is beyond me. Two inspirational people and really enjoy meeting the annualy and seeing their positive demeanour when they arrive in Galway.

Shane Lennon and his wife Lucia.
I consider Shane a close buddy, and a good man. His humble manner means he won't accept any plaudits that's thrown his way but I fully believe that he's the nucleus that brought about the Manuela Riedo Foundation. I really don't know if I would be able to travel here annually like Arelette and Hans Pieter, but Shane's doggedness and willingness to roll up his sleeves and get things done is one of the reasons that makes me less embarrassed about being from Galway, the city in which their only daughter was brutally lost to this world
