Lorraine and Alan's wedding in the Galway Bay Hotel...and why I found it so enjoyable

30th January 2017
I often write blogs about weddings....and I'm pretty conscious that a lot of the time I'm repeating myself when I say that I thoroughly enjoy myself.
There are so many weddings that I arrive home, regularly telling my wife what a wonderful day I've had....and I count myself so fortunate to be paying my taxes from something that I enjoy so much. Lorraine and Alan's day was right up there with some of the most enjoyable I've covered...and the two consistent themes running through all of those weddings that go so well are....1), the bride and groom are in super spirits (...normally as a result of being so happy to be marrying each other), and secondly because they trust those that they employ.
As Lorraine and Alan are both living in the UK, I touched base with them a couple of weeks prior to their big day when they were home on a reconnaissance mission. This meet up went so well (despite me being late) that I noted in my diary that this would be a wedding to look forward to.
Andrew Davey was looking after video needs for Lorraine and Alan, and we've both discussed how enjoyable their day was on the few occasions we've crossed paths since. It was one of those days where you didn't have to cajole a couple into holding hands or showing some affection with each other....it all came naturally. There was a lot of messing in the gardens in Salthill as well as the Prom for the bridal photos....this is something I enjoy and it helps us all when there's a bit of banter and light hearted messing when we're shooting, the images are more natural and you also get to see a bit more of someone's character.
Even though there was a chilly breeze in Salthill that day, the bridal party were so up for the day that it went unnoticed and no negativity was forthcoming from anyone on the day. A person once told me, "show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are"...well going on those that Lorraine and Alan surrounded themselves with on wedding day, it re-enforced the fact that I think they are two amazing people. I'm truly grateful lads for trusting in me with your wedding photography and I'll look forward to us crossing paths again hopefully sometime in the future.....until them, mind yourselves!
