Wedding Ballincollig Co Cork

15th December 2016
Karen and Pac's wedding was a bit of a spin from home...Cork, and my first wedding in the rebel county!
Pac's home is fairly close to me, and I did a few of his buddy's weddings which was probably the reason I was working in the rebel county...and enjoyed this wedding so much!
Karen is the type of girl that your totally conformable being around, and also likes a bit of fun. Really enjoyed my time along with her mum Breda and her bridesmaids Bríd, Pauline, Devina and Samantha....a fantastic bunch of girls who helped make the day such a positive and enjoyable one. Karen in particular was so approachable....always chatting about things and how they day was going...conscious of time for photos while at the same time absorbing as much as she could from the day...thanks Karen, you were a star!
I had been told that Pac was a "wildman"....always having the craic! As soon as arrived at his room to take some photos, the craic and the banter was flowing wildly, and it was quite funny and enjoyable listening to Pac and his groomsmen Niall, Mike, Noel and Tony shoot the breeze....tongues were razor sharp, but all in jest!
Pac and Karen's ceremony took place in the Oriel House Hotel......and with only candlelight lighting the room and the tones of Noel O'Donnell and co providing the superb music, it was a lovely experience!
After the ceremony, we headed to a local park for some images.....blessed with the super weather we were experiencing...makes such a difference been in a park with the sun shining down on us, a river flowing by us and the most beautiful of mature trees towering over us...pretty cool spot!
After our shoot, we were back to Oriel Park for a super reception.
I must admit that the older I get, the more emotional I get on occasion. Something happened during the speeches that struck a cord with me and had me trying to hide a few tears behind the camera. Being the father of a daughter, I don't take it for granted that I'll be there for her whenever she walks down the aisle....and this is something that Karen experienced. Her father had passed away the previous winter and had left a note with her brother to be read out at the wedding. I found it hugely emotional, a speech that her dad compiled before he passed on...and it had a massive impact on me and quite a few others. It was lovely to hear, witty, warm, funny and loving....totally in character with how the rest of the had panned out and lovely to witness.
Thanks Karen and Pac for trusting me with your wedding photography, and for allowing me share in your wedding day in such a positive way.
I'll look forward to crossing paths with your sometime your back in the homeland, and in the mean time, Merry Christmas to you both and mind yourselves xx!
